Mercedes-Benz GLS Launch

 Mercedes-Benz India today launched its flagship SUV, GLS, in India at Rs. 80.4 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). Essentially a facelifted version of the GL-Class, the new GLS follows the company's new nomenclature and is touted to be the S-Class of SUVs. As part of Mercedes-Benz India's 12 launches for 2016, Mercedes-Benz GLS will compete with the latest Audi Q7 and Volvo XC-90. As of now the company has only launched the GLS 350d which is already under production at the company's Chakan plan

The new Mercedes-Benz GLS350d can do a 0-100 kmph sprint in 7.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 222kmph. All this despite weighing 2.45 tons. That's impressive.

Here's some of its exterior key feature highlights:

  • LED Intelligent Light System
  • Daytime running lights with LED fibre optics
  • Contoured power domes on the bonnet
  • Mirror package with brand logo projection from side mirrors
  • Aluminium-look running board with rubber studs

Mercedes-Benz GLS headlights have been redesigned and now come with the signature Multi-Beam lamps along with LED daytime running lights.

Mercedes-Benz GLS launched in India priced at Rs. 80.4 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).

Mercedes-Benz India will manufacturer the GLS in India and the SUV will be available in six colour options.

Mercedes-Benz India head, Roland Folger finally takes the cover off the new Mercedes-Benz GLS.

Mercedes-Benz GLS - It's BIG!
In terms of dimensions, the Mercedes-Benz GLS measures - 5130mm in length, 1934mm in width and 1850mm in height. The SUV also offers a massive wheelbase of 3075mm.

High on Safety
The new Mercedes-Benz GLS gets more than just the letter 'S' from the S-Class and safety is one among these exceptional offerings. Safety features list include - collision prevention assist, crosswind assist, attention assist, Pre-Safe, Brake Assist, cruise control, ESP and electronic AWD traction system with 4ETS.

A beast under wraps
The stage is set and the new Mercedes-Benz GLS is finally ready to make an entrance.

The rich Nappa Leather upholstery and the well-equipped dashboard is quite in line with the company's claim for the Mercedes-Benz GLS being the S-Class of SUVs.

255bhp GLS350d 4MATIC;
362bhp  GLS450 4MATIC;
